Happy Birthday Biggie!
Yesterday marked the one year anniversary of when I brought Biggie home from the Pixie Project. My little man is about 3 years old. I felt very guilty that I went out to dinner instead of rushing home to practice tricks and run around outside. I’m going to make it up to you this weekend Big, I swear.
In the year I have had Biggie he has grown leaps and bounds. Here are some of his/my accomplishments.
1. He can go for walks! Not only that but he stinkin’ loves them. He won’t take food from Dan but he will go for walks with him. When I first brought him home he couldn’t walk around the block he was so scared.
2. He is quite the little adventurer. He just a year he has been to the Oregon coast several times, road tripped to Seattle and Montana, camping at Crater Lake and even flew to the frozen Wisconsin tundra. This little guy is content to go just about anywhere.
3. Potty Trained. Whoop.
4. Confidence. Big was scared of EVERYTHING. Or maybe it was everyone not everything. He is still shy but he has come worlds.
5. Joy. He has learned to be a dog. He runs and plays. He chews on bones. He will bend over backwards for a treat. He can bark! He wants to chase stray cats. (wants)
6. TRICKS! duh! sit, down, shake, roll-over, flop, bang, high five, crawl, go-round the world, put your hands up, tunnel, jump…
This last year has taught me so much not only about owning a dog but about commitment, responsibility, love, and joy. I knew I wanted a dog but I had no idea how much I would truly love it. I didn’t know I would teach my dog lots of tricks and want to know more and more. It has opened a new world of excitement and interest for me.
Biggie shows me each day how to love open-hearted and in the present.
